After five long years my Dakota will finally be seeing the road this weekend. I am headed to the DMV in the morning, getting plates and all that, then its back to my dads house to finish up a few things and and get her rolling.

Checklist for the weekend.
1. Put the new(er) tires on
2. Front left caliper
3. Heater Core
4. Rear Window

I honestly can not wait for tomorrow to come so I get wrenching!

EDIT: Does anyone know if a rear window from a Gen I will work in a Gen II?

My truck has been in bad shape since march, The body man is putting the final touches on the bed now and moving over to redoing the cab for me. I cant wait to get it back, I know how you feel!

I dunno about the window, I THINK it will fit, but dont quote me on it.

That is five years of blood sweat and tears, and the worst part is I still dont have a V8 in it lol.
But then again in the past five years I have been through alot, cancer, starting college, parents divorce so I didnt have access to my dads tools.
Finally, after five years, guys it feels absolutely great!
For now I will drive this for the winter and then come spring I am fixing my durango when I have some cash. Then the mods begin!
I'm thinking dropping it first, spindles and relocating the leaf hangers.
Anyways Sorry I didn't get them posted yesterday like I said.

She lives!:mullet:

When I blew the back window out of my 93, the window place said that Dodge change the rear window gasket design in Mid to late 93... I do not know if they are interchangable back and forth, I just know the window place had me come down to the shop with the truck to determine which window set up I had before they order to make sure they did not get the wrong one

Per Allpar (http://www.allpar.com/trucks/dakota-1987.html):

----
Changes for 1994:

An adhesive-bonded rear window had a tighter seal and added structural strength to the roof; glass was encapsulated in a RIM urethane frame. A bead of semi-liquid urethane sealing material was applied to the frame and the assembly was pressed into the back window opening of the body. Both fixed and sliding windows used this construction.
----

Depending on the year of your truck, I'd assume you'd either have to get a pre-94 rear window or 94-96 rear window.

My 95 just popped right out, no sealant. I replaced the dual slider rear window with a single slider from the junkyard, didn't pay attention to the year but it also popped right out. I did come across 1 that appeared to be glued in.

Gald she lives. we need more gen2's on the road.

BTW what are the hood pins for with a v6 and that paint job :jester:

The hood I use to have on there was from my black dakota that I hit a pole with so the hood were used to keep it shut, I guess I kinda just transferred them over. As for paint, not for awhile lol, Im more worried about my Durango getting fixed.
