On our trucks, we actually need 4 wires.

Power:
1. Alternator to fuse
2. Fuse to battery

Negative:
3. Battery to chassis
4. Battery to engine block

I used 1/0 AWG and wouldn't use anything smaller.
where on the enigne block? and should i still hook up the other ground wire they have there?

It depends on the motor. They are usually located on the middle or bottem of the side of the block, on the battery side.

Keep the wires there, dont' remove them if you have to. Electricity takes the path of least resistance, but helps to keep the stock ones there.
