In Naturally Aspirated engines powered by octane, maximum power is frequently reached at AFRs ranging from 12.5 - 13.3:1

Mine found the best power at the upper range of that. Alot of power was left on the table from about 11-12 to the 13.+ that we ended up with.

Ya, you might be a bit fat on the tune. If you leaned it out a bit you might find it'll run better. I'm not sure if that alone is going to take your truck go from not spinning at all to making it 'violent' though.

My observation: a 236 cam probably has power coming on strong in the upper rpm's, right? Around 4k+? Your 2800 stall is a bit low, don't you think? You'll find some guys with simple bolt-on 360's are using 2800 rpm stalls. Seems to me like you're 1:1 when there aint a whole lot of power being made. Granted a 408 with 4.56's should have plenty of torque at 2800 rpm to shred the tires...I just think if you wanted to be 'violent' you'd want a higher stalling torque converter that'll get you where the serious power is being made. I'm no expert though, anyone with more knowledge care to elaborate on this subject?
