My 2001 was said to of had precats too. I only have a single cat on mine. Which I am glad I don't have the precats, I personally am not fond of them. Certain ones didn't get precats even though 01-03 were said to have. Forget the reason or how some didn't get precats, someone will be able to tell you that. Hope I helped. A.J.
Everyone thanks for the replies. The reason I asked was that I was looking to buy some headers but was told that LEGALLY they would not work on my truck as I had pre-cats. but yet I do not see any. Maybe it is only a California emission thing ??? God Bless
the precats are on the y-pipe. directly after the exhaust manifolt their would be two small cats, one on each side. there would also be an o2 sensor in each. Mine has them If you get shorty headers you'll be fine, but with longtubes you will have to weld in bungs for the o2 sensors. This is all if you have them obviously
