I have a 2004 Dakota 4x4 4.7L and want to do a T/S lift and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as how to do the rear lift , I was looking at using shackles as I would prefer the cheaper option (also to make sure I have everything I need, I know i need the torsion keys , do I also need the torsion key removal tool to the remove the bars from stock position I assume??) , but i was curious of other peoples opinions and I am assuming I would be able to do the job myself??

I too am looking into lifting with the use of a shackle for the rear lift instead of blocks. So it'll be interesting to see what the lift guys say. Though I believe the way the hanger is on the 4x4 you need a shorter shackle, like a lowering shackle that you would get for a 2wd. Not completely sure though. If you need reindexed torsion keys than make sure you buy a good set.

torsion keys are only necessary if your existing torsion bars are shot...you plow? have a big ass heavy steel bumper? 200K miles?..your torsion bars are probally not shot and have enough adjustment to level out the front....

blocks are fine for lifting the rear.. i dunno why they get such a bad rap.. they come in the tough country or rancho 5 inch lift... I ran them for 3 years and only took them out cuz I was tired of tripping over my door sill.. hell wanna buy mine??

the only reason they minght not be any good is axle wrap.. thats if you haul or tow a lot.. and even then your leafs will wear out faster if you didnt have blocks in so its hard to put much water in that argument.

i would stay away form aluminum blocks... and get the angled ones if your going higher then 2 inches..blocks are easy to install as you dont have to take apart the leaf pack.. just unbolt the U bolts.. raise the pack. fit the block.. bolt longer u bolts on.... instant lift.

this is all for the dak thou.. durs can fight over add a leafs or shackles.. in my opinoin add a leafs look better and arent much more in moolah..

Hey yall,
Just to give you a heads up i'm gonna need some help with this one lol. I've got a 2000 Durango 4x4 and I would like to be able to fit 35's. From my understanding (which isn't that much) I will need about 5in. of lift and a dremel ;). Here's my issue, I do not know how I should do the lift, i.e, which parts I need. I'm thinking about doing Torsion Keys in the front and add leafs or shackles in the back and then a 3in body lift? Any recommendations? I kind of let my durango project slide because I recently got a s2k so i've been working on that. My second issue is i'm going to have about a 300lb steel front bumper with a winch made from ironbullbumpers, what should i do to keep the durango from in fact sinking down? ANY help would be greatly appreciated fellas, thank you

Torsion / shackle. It refers to cranking the torsion bars up higher in front and replacing your shackles in the rear with longer shackles for a 2" lift all around.
im new here and i was looking to get new rims for my 2000 dakota sport, i have right now the stock 15" rims and i liked the Cragar soft 8s erfoster has. i wanted to know if they got rims that will push a little farther out without getting new tires since i just bought 4 new General Grabber AT2s (255/70/15) Thanks

Torsion bar tweak with a lift kit already installed

I have a durango with about a 2"-3" lift already installed, not sure what manufacturer the lift is but there are red components. Anyway, I searched and searched these forums .....

Can I tweak my torsion bars to get a little more lift with a lift kit already there?

I want to eventually squeeze some 33s on.... are there any other flare options for the 2000 Durango?

i just did this to mine,i went to autozone and bought the (lowering)shackles which raise it nicely.I just cranked the front up and it looks great. The factory shocks work fine and actully do a better job now that there running in a new area of the shock.I have 31x10.50s and it looks great.I put a flow on today, its coming along nicely

Where are you guys finding torsion bars on the Durango? Is it in the 4wd models only or something?
Yes. 2wd has coils, so you need a coil spacer

Some feedback please, a bit of "cornfusion". I just picked up a 98 Durango, very nice condition by the way. It "APPEARS" to have been lifted when compared to other same year Durangos. It is fitting brand new 32x10.5 all the way around with absolutely no problems what so ever. They are NOT taking up a lot of space inside the fender wells, you CAN see considerable more of the inside fenderwell above the tire than I see on other Durangos same year. Id swear this thing has some aftemarket lift in it but for the life of me I cant spot it! NO body lift at all, no SHACKLE lift from what I can see. The only thing that makes me believe that something has been done is that the 32s fit just fine. Ive seen other posts here that imply at least a body lift would be necessary for even 32s and that 33s will RUB like crazy without one. Ill take some pics in next day or so ... gettin a new damn Crank Sensor installed after replace PCM hoping that would fix it .... was having the "run" for a bit then wont start for two days, then run for maybe 20 mins then wot start again for a day or so ..etc.
