yup.

finally got the 3 red rings of death.

i've had it since august 2006 i think, this coming august being the 2nd full year i've had it. thank god i have the receipts somewhere but i'll have to send it in.

boo urns.
i hope ican get my COD4 disc out of it.
the kicker was i hadn't used it for a good week now, and was playing mp3's off a flash drive that i plugged into the 360. it'd been on for a whole 20 minutes and then it rrod'd.

maybe it'll fix itself like it rrod's when the power cuts, but i think this one is toast.

Send it, they usually don't even ask about warranty on RROD claimed 360's. Because they're too worried about just getting rid of all of them :D

when i went to buy my recently i made sure i found a jasper chipset which doesn't rrod due to being made on a smaller process technology and a better heatsink system.

Don't feel bad, I'm on #4.

Don't worry about receipts, you don't need it. just call 1-800-4my-xbox and they will take care of everything.
will do, wasn't sure if I needed to prove WHEN I purchased it or not.

rap it in a towel and turn it on for like 15-20 minutes.. turn off and unrap it and let it cool for a while, then try it.
I know of the towel trick but it's only a temporary fix.

just send it into microsoft for free they even send u a box to put it in they will fix it for free and sent it back to you I've done it twice on 2 different xbox 360s
my brother has gone through 4 I think. He has a premium I have an elite.

Don't think any of the refurbs will be Jaspers :(

the other good thing I guess is that the magnet inside the DVD-ROM, when it gets too hot or some crap, it unsticks and then prevents discs from being played. I was having that problem so I guess I'm killing two birds with one stone > fixing the magnet issue, getting the rrod RMA'd

my boy is on his 3rd free one now. so he got a ps3 like I do.

they told him to try pushing in on the connections in back(power, video, etc) since the welds apparently are that bad.

First one I had, bought in first production year, did that. Bought new, then got a one that RRoD'd. Woo.

yah my collecovisions ok for now, got a red ring on a nes once. the first xbox actually exploded and killed my dog tho..

woah what? sorry to hear about it, what happened?

mine was on it's way out... thankfully i had the best buy prp for it(i knew that eventually ALL 360s RRoD).

and fyi, the re5 edition is the new jasper chip, which takes much less power, runs quieter, and has a bit better graphics processor. but the big thing is, is that it runs cooler, and it is supposedly RRoD proof. i knew this going in, but i got the prp again anyway. (it covers performance, and you saying it's running slower than it used to, or saying it has intermittent freezing cannot be tested or argued with). that way, when the new phoenix comes out, i'll get $400 to go towards that too! if you keep buying the prps, then you're always guaranteed to have the latest and greatest console. it's like... an investment.

so, now they are cheaper. i got the re5 edition elite console, with street fighter ii and re5 included, a 2nd red controller and play/charge kit, i purchased ANOTHER prp for this unit, and i ended up paying an additional $75 total, BUT i got a free $40 gift card. new game, new console, new controller, and new prp for $35. not bad.

well my elite was holding on reaaaaaaaaaally good for however long it held up.

it DOES get choppy sometimes, and some games just take more to load than others. Specifically, the dashboard itself in the NXE (new xbox experience) and midnight club los angeles.

which reminds me, i have a force-feedback steering wheel ( i didnt know it was force feedback ) but you need the AC adapter for it! mine didn't come with one (bought it used)
