Dude racoons are known to have rabies. There are small children and pets around here. We weren't gonna risk it.

That's what animal control officers are for. Do you know that this animal was rabid ? This a perfect example of why all citizens shouldn't be allowed to own guns. There needs to be a better screening process

Dude, I'm not even sure if you are aware, but there is a such a thing as **** hunting. People hunt them for sport. And there is no animal control office for 45 miles. It would have taken them an hour or better to get out there.

Also rabies or no rabies racoons are pest, just like mice and other varmit.

You are a perfect example of why there should be a screening process on who should have computer priveleges. You are an ass who contributes nothing to this site but goes from site to site trying to find something to flame about. If you don't like my thread, get the hell out.

another ignorant ******* heard from. let's hope you shoot yourself next time.

Edit : My anger comes from the fact that I had a racoon as a family pet for a few years in the 80s, it was actually the girlfriend's, but I still became very attached to the little critter.

What if the **** DID attack his dog/kids/wife or even him self....And didnt shoot it because its a creature of 'nature'. Would that have made you happy to see a family devistated from rabies? But been able to have one more **** running around free.


Hell if you feel this way about them, i guess you voted for YOUR president

you're missing the point. the racoon attacked nobody, and was never proven to be rabid. it was minding it's own business. had it attacked, of course shooting it would be appropriate. the guy I voted for ran a distant 3rd, but what does that have to do with this ? I question the decision making process that lead to that animal's death. arbitrarily shooting an animal for no valid reason is wrong. Hell, even if they were shooting it for food, I could understand that. But no, that animal died for no other reason than to provide some dumb hillbilly a mock macho dick swinging moment.

90% of the time if you see a **** out during the day its rabid, only other reason i can see for that is the dog ran it out of its hiding spot


Why take the chance, i sure as hell know i dont want to be in ICE getting shots right into my stomach a few times a day...and even then there is no chance of you surviving.

And im sorry but its better to be save then sorry. Only way to check for rabies is to cut of the animals head and disect the brain.

maybe you missed my post about having one as a pet. the g/f, at the time, found it as a baby on the side of the road. the mama had been hit by a car. we bottle fed that little sucker for 2 friggin' months. he turned out to be one of the best animals that I ever owned. he used to sit on my lap, on the couch, and watch football games with me. I'd feed him nutter butter cookies, and we'd sit for hours. that's why this particular thread gets to me. I see them as something more akin to a cat or dog, more so than a pest. although, I do realize that my case is unique.

The **** was in the yard, there was no way my dog could have chased the **** from it's hiding place cause I have a wireless fence and the shock collar won't let her go outside the yard.

It's cool that you had one for a pet and you raised it up. This one was wild. And like said before the only way you can test an animal for rabies is to cut off it's head and and inspect the brain.

It was a better safe than sorry deal. I don't **** hunt. I'm not one of the ones who loads up a pack of dogs and goes through the woods looking for some to shoot. I shot the video cause that was Hounds are know from is hunting and treeing and this one is just a pup who hasn't even been trained.

And wishing that I would shoot myself cause you think I'm a "*******" just proves that you are nothing more than ignorant.

Wether or not we shot the **** or not, it's not worth the risk. If it had gotten hold of one of my pets could you imagine the vet bills? If it had gotten hold of my family or one of the kids could you imagine that bill. Sorry it's not worth the risk.

I guess if he wanted to, He could go out and shoot as many as he wanted legally after dark. But to shoot one in broad daylight now thats a crime:D, That Animal was rabid, Or blind.
