Pulled up to this light and noticed this ridiculous looking Ford Ranger, it was all blue with a bunch of stickers on the back window, flames on the side. Sticker covers over the headlights and fake hood scoops that weren't painted yet. And i couldn't see the guy inside cause of his tints which were probably the coolest thing on his truck. Well the light dropped and I was going normal speed then he starts taking off so I drop the pedal about half way and catch up then pass him doing 60mph in a 40. He catches then next light well I easily made it through!:bye:

if you have a 3.9 than it doesnt count, cuz everyone knows the v6 is actually powered by 6 hamsters running in wheels inside the engine block.:jester:
hmm so does that mean that the 318 has 8 hamsters on wheels in them?

no they have chihuahuas, and everyone knows that 360's are actually powered by Jesus.
im not sure the way things are going they may be OBAMA powered ,lol.

3.7? 3.7 what? when ever they make the 3.7 the way they made the new 4.7s it should be more powerful then it is now, lol.

Had one

I drove a 4 cylinder 5 speed Ranger for 5 years. The only way I could ever beat anything was if it was as badly underpowered as I was, the other guy didn't figure out ahead of time that I was planning on sneakin in front of him, and I timed the light like a pro. It could pull decently if I revved that rustic 2.3 liter to within an inch of its life but beyond that Minivans with the big motor option could walk on me without even going full throttle. I imagine if I had had the same truck but with an automatic a coat of paint could have dried in the time it took me to hit 60 mph.

If I was on the interstate and hit a moderate grade 5th gear became useless, couldn't even maintain speed. If I hit a steeper grade 4th wasn't even that great. If I was on a 2 lane and needed to pass quickly, well let's just say it's a good thing that motor was at least stout enough to stand up to 3rd gear at 55 mph every now and then without self destructing. Now that I got a V8 I too take a little satisfaction in whoopin on somethin that shouldn't even have tried to play with me in the first place, but... it IS a 115 horsepower truck.

The 25 mpg was nice though.

A 4.0 5 speed ranger driven right can be relatively quick... Think.. 4 liters in a tiny pickup.

and the 5 speed (M5OD) bolts up to a 302.. which can be a deadly easy swap in a ranger.

But anyway, a stock 4.0 5spd 2002 Extended cab 4x4 ranger..(210hp SOHC 4.0V6)

All depends on the fit and finish of the ranger, big difference between a 90hp I4 white single cab, to a 205hp single cab 2/4wd.
