Just picked up a Kinetik HC1400...and I realized it fits inside the center console in the R/T. Should I mount it inside or under the hood? Or what...

It's a sealed battery so there wouldn't be any health risks, and it's non-hazardous.

Pros mounted inside:
-close to the amps
-keeps clean

Cons:
-Might have problems at the track

Pros to being in stock location:
-No potential problems at the track

Cons:
-Gets dirty without a custom box made for it

 ?

Asking opinions. Darren, would I have a problem at the track if it was inside the center console??
That FAQ link I gave you answered your original question. Now that you've edited your first post to ask additional questions, yes I believe you would have problems with tech inspections at a drag strip over the battery being mounted inside the cab.

I would just run both of them and place the kinetik in the center concole. I have a HC600 and I have it under my box and it sure has made a huge difference. My lights dont dim with my powerful system thumping. Let me know if you have any questions about it. I did alot of research on these kinds of batteries. Good luck!

Come to think of it I think it would be easier to mount it somewhere under the hood...now how do I make something that will shield it from the elements?

There is no harm installing the battery inside the cab. Arguably with the more consistant temperatures, you'd lengthen the life of it as well.

The track will kill you for it... I believe.

You might just need an external kill switch.

Alright well if I just need a kill switch I have one...I don't care...I emailed the closed strip to ask about that. Hopefully I get some good answers...

Mount it next to the frame rail in front of the gas tank.
Good idea. I did that in my Jetta (super-rare full frame car) and grounded the battery to the gas tank. (even more rare steel tank)

That spot is perfect for the (eventual) on-board air system I want to do on my truck. It shouldn't be too hard to make some brackets to hold a battery, and it would be a better location for weight transfer. If you end up doing that, post pics, as I'm sure other guys would like to do the same.

Are you serious!?

On-board air as in a compressor and a tank for filling up tires and using pneumatic tools--not for air bags if that's what you were thinking.
Ok...
