how did you paint yours? were they professionally painted?
painted by myself.
wet sanded the OEM finish with 400 grit paper, topside AND back side, which helped clean up the brake dust stains. they almost looked like new wheels when I was done! --except instead of being shiney and glossy, they were matte grey looking. wash with soap and water and let them dry. any spots that were still shinny, got sanded again. with all the water filling the sanding scratches, it makes the wheel look shiney, so it's hard to see what's been sanded.
once the entire wheel is sanded and flat looking, one final wipe down with de-greaser.
I then taped the rim edge with masking tape to keep them silver, and hit it with cans of Rustoleum flat black. I didn't even bother to mask off the tires...who cares if you get black paint on black tires! once they were dry, I pealed the tape off, and that's how they looked!
I did this right before winter though, so I haven't actualy driven on them yet. if it holds up well, great! if not, once these tires wear out, I'll take them off and go get the wheels professionally sand blasted and powdercoated flat black.
