This is the first time i can post in here and it actually means something. Went cruising tonight at around 1230, seriously didnt think id find any action. I turn my signal on to turn off the highway back towards my house, get in the turning lane and see a RX8 get ready to pull onto the high. SWERVE!!! Back on the highway and catch up to him. Chillin beside him and kinda get on it a couple times seeing if he wants to do anything. I pull up ahead a little and slow down, he gets up and stays right next to me, i slow down to 40 and he does the same, i honk three times and kinda hesitated cause i wasnt sure if he was gonna go for it, well he did, so i was probably about half a second late. Didnt matter, by 85mph in third gear (which is also the gear i started from) he was easily a whole car behind me. He gave me a flash, i gave him some fourways and he turned off.

15's isn't slow? For the price point and for what it's supposed to be, it's slow.
I have no doubt it can run 14's. Some sites list the new civic si's at 15.4 while another review listed it at 14.7, and many more than a few people have run faster than that even.
Cool thing is he smoked it. Regardless of what it is. i find it more fun to fuck with slow cars that people drive like they stole it vs a faster car.

but an rx-8 is by far slow!!
especially considering the little rotary engine is equivealent to the size of geo metro 3cyl (literally)
that rotary engine is about 1.3L ....putting out 240hp stock...thats just amazing.
my friend has one with an intake and cat-back and it HAULS ASS...0-60 in a little under 5sec and pulls HARD all the way to 9000 rpms.
for you to keep up with that....you have a fast ass truck my friend

It could've been the automatic, which is a 16 second car, but i doubt it though if he was only a car ahead by 85.
Intake and cat-back gets a car that goes from 0-60 in 7 seconds ( MAYBE 6.5 with power shifting it) down to a 5 second 0-60?

Please, the rx8 isn't even impressive boosted. They will DESTROY you on a curvy road though, you won't even see his taillights anymore after 2 or 3 turns.

If you drove the r/t you wouldn't be saying his car is that fast. Mazda overrated the engine horribly. Most people dyno them stock with all the ecu updates around 165-180 whp.the s2000 is much more impressive. 240 hp 2.2L dynos 210-220 at the wheels. rwd, so it's probably a bit underrated (10-15 hp maybe)

well a cat-back and intake opend it up ALOT...i could tell the diff. from just the intake alone...the same mods dont have the same effect on every motor. ive seen intakes open up 20+ hp one one car and maybe 5 on another

i never said the rx-8 is the fastest car im just sayin its fast. and for a ( i think stock) 5.9 245hp to pull that heavy ass truck faster than that light ass240hp rx-8 ... i was just surprised... he has a fast ass truck

it's a single cab gen II 5 speed with a 5.9. Mods are 50mm F&B (i think) and a mopar pcm.

those RX-8s are kinda fun to drive, nice wiiiide powerband, makes decent power from 3k to 9k rpm. But they are pig heavy for as little power as they have.

For the last fucking time. Overrated engine. It is NOT 240 fucking horsepower. Look up stock rx8 dynos and prepare to be unimpressed for a motor rated at 237. Actually i'll do it for you.

I talked about the s2000 because it was in the same class AND price range of this car, and it's easily 1-1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile with a good driver. That's a big fucking difference.
I love the rx8, but it's underpowered, and nothing is going to change that except money.
