Well this started a few weeks ago on our first good snowfall, we have 65 acres of fields and woods. Anyways I'm coming home from work and notice snowmobile tracks starting at the edge of our property cutting down the center of the field and exiting into our neighbors field, they looked fairly new maybe a day or so. I went out and started plowing out our driveway with my ATV, and as I'm finishing up I hear something coming from our field behind me. I drive my ATV out there and park it on the snowmobile trails and wait...sure enough here comes 3 snowmobiles, and guess what they go around me and wave :rant:. I cant chase them since the ATV still has the plow attached and it raises up only so high (if I hit a good bump the blade will catch the ground and send me flying). Next day I put some haybales at the entrance of where they come onto our property to use as a barricade, they drove over the haybales knocking them over into the road which amazingly didn't cause an accident. Next day I put more haybales and some fallen trees across the same entrance and...they start a new trail, now I'm fuming. There's been fresh tracks ever since, lastnight I spotted them coming down the road and entering the same spot in our field again so I get dressed and wait on my 4 wheeler hoping they come back so I can confront them...usually they just go up the road several miles and come back through again but this time the never returned. Now my grandfather said this has been happening for years now, people riding their snowmobiles without asking for permission. Most of the posted/no trespassing signs he has up are so far gone and need replacement which we were planning to do this spring. I cant believe that these morons cant get a clue as to why their trails have been blocked on both sides, are people really this clueless :huh:. I dont want to call the police because it wont solve anything unless they see them in the act which I've only managed to do a few times and I live on the property. Our road is nothing but farmland on either side so they make a big circuit that ends up going into the next town, most of these trails go parallel with the road, crossing over lawns and driveways. I'm sure that for the several miles of trails they've been riding on that we're not the only ones who are upset about them trespassing. I'll continue to set in the woods and wait for them to come through again so I can tell them in person they aren't welcome on our property...I seriously doubt no trespassing signs will be effective since our neighbor has some posted and they ride across his field. Anyways sorry...just wanted to vent some frustration on this matter.

no bs man.landowner got sick of the loud snowmobiles flying through the fields at all times of the day & night.so one night he put up a cable/rope(whatever it was) guy came through one night & cute his head clean off.guy got in all kinds of trouble & did major jail time.not sure if owning land is different then here in new york but you can not do such a act.

he just got sick of it or something i dont know??the guy that got his head cut off was my fathers friend & i went to school with his daughters.there may be more to the story--idk but i know from that exsperience you are not allowed to put up a barrier that will do bodily harm on purpose..even you they dont ave permission to be there.

here's what i think you should do
1) Put up clearly obvious and visible signs saying DO NOT TRESPASS
2) do what you have been doing and wait for them, but bring a gun
3) when they finally show up, and BEFORE they get to you, if they don't seem to be stopping, fire a warning shot
4)if they still don't stop, shoot to kill cause they could be a threat to you

The intended result of putting Cinder blocks on a known snowmobile trail is to stop the snowmobiles with possible damage/injury to sled/person. That's why it IS illegal to put those cinder blocks, KNOWINGLY, in a trail where people will be.
It's like shooting a neighbor's cat that comes into your property, shit just doesn't work that way if you get caught..

You better believe there would be cinder blocks up, a wall more so than anything...Fuck em, Close it all off, then, buy a snomobile and ride your land, when they drive by, wave, let them know how much fun your having...The bastards...I know you dont want them there, but, before you go ANYWHERE YOU PLEASE, at least ask for the permission for it...Stupid fucks

It's the next random lost guy who's accidentally following dickhead #1 and slams into your trap, that's your fault. You set up the cinder block setup with the intention of causing damage. Reflective tape costs less than cinder blocks anyway, and anyone in their right mind is going to ask why the fuck you hid cinderblocks there in the first place instead of said trees/haybales like OP did, and it's obvious, to cause possible damage to the next guy.

you should go find some old shell cases and scatter them on the trail
Purposely: My dad was tired of people running over his railroad tie at the end of the driveway which would tear it up and it was breaking, so he went out and got a huge rock and put it at the end of the tie. Still on his property. This one night, this fucking idiot ran it over and the car was stuck on it with the front right wheel off of the ground. My dad and I went outside with beers and laughed our asses off. We did help him get it off though.
He was a little mad and said "what's that rock doing there"? My dad said "to keep idiots like you from running over my rail road tie...you can run over that rock all you want though!!"
