i was wondering how everyone is running there pcv valve, mainly on boosted setups? Ive heard of catch cans but how to actually run the lines? do you have to have a line that goes to a vacuum source? do you need a pcv valve or can you just have a breather on the valve covers? would like to see everyones set up.

thanks.

if you run a catch can, just run a vac line from your pcv to the catch can, and from the catch can back to a vac source. think of it as an inline filter.

dose it matter that im boosted or no?

 where does your pcv valve vac line run right now?? from your valve cover to where?? all your doing with a catch can is putting inline from your pcv valve to a vac source.

well thats the thing right now i dont have a line. i have a breather vent attacted the the little elbow that comes out of the valve covers.

well then im not sure. i thought the pcv valve goes from the valve cover to a vac source. on mine it goes from the pcv to the intake manifold.

could i still do that if im boosted? im guessing thats why its a valve?

ok so on yours a hone from each valve cover goes to the intake manifold?

on mine, the passenger side pcv goes to the air hat, and on the driver side the pcv goes to the intake manifold. both go to a vac source.

I'd like to see some pics of catch can setups on these trucks. I need one desperately, mobile1 has been interior decorating my intake tract since I got blown.

me too. just imagine what my engine bay looks like with it going out a breather

On my turbo Caravan, the stock PCV system had a check valve in it. When you're in boost the intake is under pressure and it will actually push air back into the crankcase......... and eventually cause blowby and / or leaking seals, so make sure you've got a check valve in there.

Centrifugals could pick up the vacuum in front of the impeller provided they had a catch can and were only using it for a vacuum source, not a sludge dump.
