i am trying to plan ahead a bit.i would like to do some mods but don't want to break the bank. i am going to handle the DIY stuff such as cut back the runners on the keg and open up the TB. i see some headers on ebay for cheep, stainless shorties for 140 shipped, any good or stay away. what about the rockers and computer. any advice on what i should get, don't want cheep but decent, as it's my DD and only takes a mild beating. 98 318 4x4

i would say stay away from the ebay headers. try and find a good used set or spend some money on better headers. you can get the harland sharp 1.7 non-adj roller rockers for around $300 new or wait and find some used, but they are hard to find. as for the computer, you can get a superchips or maybe even a mopar computer. im not to sure if the mopar computer wil work though, maybe someone else will chime in. i do know that the mopar computer is better than the superchips. another good mod is to upgrade to an electric fan and ditch the clutch fan. it is a relatively cheap mod and gives you alittle extra power. hope this helps.

i don't want to sound like a tard, but, what is the benefit of the rockers and i believe i have seen some list the 1.6 also and what is the diff between the 2. also the diff between a mopar puter and say a superchips or sct

stock rockers are 1.6. if you stay with the stock cam, go with the 1.7's. also, the aftermarket rockers have a roller tip, and the stockers dont. the benefit of the 1.7's are more lift, and less friction. the harland sharp 1.7 non adj rockers are the easiest to install imo.

of all the mods on my truck, you can't beat the 1.7 non-adjustable rockers and a good throttle body w/cold air intake.those two mods are the bomb! the stock exhaust manifolds flow about the same as shorty headers so don't waste your money there.if you make any changes to your exhaust, change the y-pipe(thats the weak link in the exhaust)

OK, thnx for the rocker class. the y pipe, i was wondering about that. i got my truck in the spring and it looks like it was just put on and how small the diameter was compared to the rest of the exhaust. does someone sell an aftermarket or do i need to go to a muffler shop and get 1 made. and no change to the cam so i'll look into the 1.7's.

if your lucky, you can find a set of mopar pph or spintech mid-length headers. both of those come with a good y-pipe. you can also check out your local exhaust shop and see what they can do. if you want them new, you can get a y-pipe and mid length headers from here.

exhaust is expensive, but is well worth it.

a little too rich for my blood... and wallet. good looking set up tho
yea it is expensive, but its very nice. your probobly better off getting some used mid-length headers and have an exhaust shop make you a y-pipe.
