I have no heat. When I turn on the heat it gets warm for a few seconds and then goes cold. Could my heater core be plugged? If so can I back flush it and how much pressure can I put in the system before I blow the heater core apart. Could the water pump not be pushing enough hot water through the core? Help I can't go anywhere without heat this time of year.

Sounds like air in the heater core hoses when the truck is running. Could air in the system be the problem?
Very well could be. Go head and back flush your heater core and then park your truck on a slight incline, remove the radiator cap, start the engine and let it idle coming up to operating temp. If there is air in the system, then you will see it bubble out the cap opening. Top off the system, replace radiator cap.

Water pumps don't get weak. They're either good or bad and leaking. Have you tried replacing the thermostat? It may be partically stuck in the open position.

The heater core could be clogged. Get some flush and dump it in the rad and drive it around a day or so then drain it and if you have acess to an air compressor blow through it with that. I had the same prob with my fiances 98 and even after flushing it 3 times it still only got luke warm, blew it out with the compressor and had heat right away
