you are most likely fine.. probably just have a lifter or two that is leaking down more than it should,,shouldn't be a problem..
ok thanks... i am going to try and drive it now. lets see how this goes.

allright, i let it sit and idle for a while. every like 10-20 seconds the idle would bump up alittle(like 50 rpms) and then go back to idleing. it seems like the computer wants to learn the new things, but it cant. also, if i pull off the breather tube from the passenger side valve cover, smoke comes out of the hose, like burnt oil. i drove it earlier today and it would drive like crap. it would stumble alot and drop to like 400 rpms and act like it wants to stall. i didnt drive it long, just up and down my street. wtf is going on. i seem to have the worst luck with everything i do to this truck...

edit: i let it idle again and when it warmed up i raised the rpms to 1300. i held it steady and about 5 sec later it would rev up higher on its own. i didnt move the pedal at all and i did this twice to confirm it. why is the computer doing this?? all that is done to the truck is m-1, rr's, full exhaust, and fastman tb. my old truck had everything but the rockers and it ran fine.

you have a few other problems it sounds like..check for vacuum leaks and do a compression test.. then get back with us..
I will look for the vac leaks now. I dont have a compression tester though... I may have to pick one up tomorrow.. Thanks for replys guys, keep them coming!!

i had something similar to me when I put STP fuel additive in the truck. Ran like shit for the week after that. Put down a couple full tanks of gas before the truck started running properly again.

For me the engine kept hiccuping. If you let off the gas pedal the engine would go to die but then it'd struggle with itself to try to stay alive. Then when you went to floor it it wouldn't respond for a couple seconds and would rev down like it was about to die then suddenly it'd jump back to life past 3grand.

Just kept driving it till she got better...

As for why is the computer doing what it's doing... no clue. My computer took some 20 minutes of two foot driving for it to finally re-learn enough to idle on it's own after the battery drained dead... full out dead where turning the key produced No result (no clicking even). Maybe it needs more time to re-learn?

Well, I swapped the IAC, and let it idle for a few more mins. It was sounding better so I went out for a spin.. It drove good, I didnt really hear any out of place noises or ticks but there is one other thing.. The breather hose from the pass side valve cover is still spewing out smoke, and I dont wanna put that on my intake for the motor to suck in. I shot a video of it, and the truck changing idle, so here it is. Sorry its so dark, but its the best I could do.

Im just glad the truck seems to be better. I think the computer just has to learn all the new things and it just took forever. I must have let this thing idle in my driveway for 30 min total lol.

To me personally it sounds like your throttle position sens might be going bad.

that was the way it sounded earlier tonight... I changed the IAC,reset the computer, and changed a few vac lines that had a possibility of leaking, and let it idle for 10 min. I went out and drove it, and its fine now. Its very wierd to me that it would take that long to "learn" the new stuff.

that does sound wierd....chris its time to update your avatar, sig and sig pic to the new truck....maybe even shoot sincity r/t a screen name change request. :stirthepo

In your vid, it looks like the PCV valve hose is not on the vac port on the intake very good which may be somewhat of a vac leak and causing some of the smoke out of the hose. Check the PCV hose and connect the hose on the passenger side to the intake and call it golden.

The 1.7 RR's will change the sound of the engine a little to something like a very mild cam has been installed. I'm hearing absolutely nothing wrong...all you need to do is drive it! Good job! :mullet:

i took off the pcv hose on purpose. there was alot of smoke coming out of it, so i disconnected it for a while. i plugged the air hat while the pcv was unpluged. i will put the pcv hose back on today and see how it goes.
