1999 - 245000kms is about 150000 miles.

Sad part is is she is getting tired. Motor will need some internal attention soon, and i feel the tranny going. But, during last winter i figured i would have some engine work to do by spring...and its almost a year later with no work at all!

youll probably see the tranny go atleast once maybe twice before the motor goes..that is you take care of it...im running my second tranny and running strong at 185,000..but i dont get out there and beat on it either, and change my oil every 3 thousand miles..or less..my engine bay may not always look clean, but i can guarantee all my fluids are...

question for all you that have high miles.
i am looking to purchase an '02 Dak Quad 4x4... only thing that makes me hesitate is that it has 144k miles already on the clock with it. I have yet to seriously test drive it. My question is if it runs smoothly when i do get out there and test drive it, would it be worth my time/money to get one?
Always have wanted a dakota... just not sure if the $5k that he is asking is worth it. i seriously dont want to buy a truck that will just poop out on me because of the high miles.
thanks in advance

Which motor?

The vehicle shouldn't just poop out from high miles if it was well maintained. The biggest concern would be the transmission going. I definately wouldn't pay 5,000 for it though.

It's only worth the 5,000 if they have maintenance records and the transmission has been redone. If not, I'd offer 4,400ish to start. It'll be at least 800+ to have the transmission redone.

If it's been a CA truck all its life, I'm sure it's in excellent shape.

i am honestly just not sure just because of how high the miles are. but i will go down, check it out, drive it, and throw an offer at them and just see where it goes from there i guess.
i am honestly just scared of buying it and than things going bad. its always the luck that i seem to have.
thanks again fluffy

If that mileage is mostly highway and it was maintained, it's a better deal than a non-maintained 60,000 mile city driven truck.
