Sucide Hood Flip Kit???
I am considering doing this mod to my durango, however it would require that i dont use my grill guard. any input on this idea? anyone have pics of one done?

It would be kind of cool. You can still use a brush guard, just look at the h1 hummers. It is hinged so it can fold out.

suicide hood

yeah but i already have my grill guard. and it attaches to the bottom of the frame and to the frame behind the grill, any ideas on how to hinge it?

the guard is off right now because she is in the garage right now until i replace my transmission, but you can see where it bolts on

if your brush gard has bolts on the frame this is what you gonna need to get the gaurd to stay on without damage to the hood/grille.

two pins with push thru pins.
two bolts that you can let the brush rest on without being tightened down so you can let it swing down wen you wanna open the hood, i was thinking about that on my 3.7 dak...lol

My buddy and I did one for his dodge ram. We ended up going to the junkyard and find a mid to late 80s Buick Le Sabre. they have the suicide hood. We took all the brackets and hinges and basically moved them to the dodge. if I remember right we had to cut his grille in half the long ways. ( its been a while. I had some pics but I dont know where they went. it was a PITA so i never did it again but he had to have a front hinged hood. Dumbazz ended up wrecking the truck

FYI it makes working on your engine a pain in the ass. Much easier to work from the front most of the time IMO. Both of my BMWs had them. I did get a lot of comments on them though because nobody realized they came that way stock.

yeah i cant imagine it would make engine maintenance very easy, i just thought it looked pretty sweet and was curious as to other's idea's on whether it was worth it or not. looks like we swap out the latch for pins upgrade the driveline and add some NOS lol

My hood is flipped. I am going to redo the whole thing over the winter to make it easier to open. It is hard for me because the truck is lifted so high. I can put it up and leave it up for days however. I didn't have to cut anything and my hood is fiberglass if you have metal life would be easier. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah i second the request for pics of the hinges, i've heard you can simply use the stock hings flip them around to the front of the hood and use hood pins in the back, but your truck looks amazing kinda curious about hwo yours is done
