Ok I am going to install a tranny temp gauge in my truck now that I have a triple pod pillar :D :D

Keep in mind i don't know shit when it comes to transmissions so my question may sound weird but i hope someone understands it..lol

so my question is, is there a test port or something I can use to put the sending unit in the tranny or do i have to have it installed by welding it in?

hope that makes sense... thanks in advance for the repsonses

There are a couple of pressure test ports on the right side of the transmission, but I'm not sure if they're big enough for the sensor that you'll use. I'm sure someone here knows the size of those ports...
anybody know if the test ports will work ??

Your best bet is to buy a pan with an extra hole in it. The Mopar deep pan works awesome for mine temp sender.
how much did that run and where can i get it? Thanks for any info you can provide

i got mine from pml. you pay a little extra, and they drill and tap the hole for a temp sensor. i opted out on mine. think im going to put one in on one of those ports.

I'm not sure how much a new pan costs. My Martin Saine trans came with the pan but I would imagine probably around the $150 range. It looks sweet and adds fluid capacity along with the extra hole for the temp sender.

I would check the dealership to see if they could get there hands on one or call John Mercedes.

jesus your exhaust runs tight to the pan... not to good as far as heat soak...

My temp never get too hot, I've only had it on for a month. Its only gotten to 140, only 15 mins driving to work and back

id at least ceramic coat the front half of the exhaust. imo. bet you drive it for a while, youll see.
