Just wondering what everyone recommends to help tune my truck and make it run better. Just got some duals put on w/o cats and I assume its running rich.

have no experience with any of the computer controlled stuff so wanted to know what some other people are doing. I need something that will obviously clear codes and change the a/f ratio etc... Read things about LM-2, SCT, Hypertech and whatever else is out there but don't really have a good understanding of it all like closed loop, open loop, widband all that stuff.

Here is my mods for now. Its an 03 so we had the 2 pre cats and 1 post I think
JBA headers, mangnaflow duals, cai intake, msd 6al, wires and 180 t-stat. Coming soon M1, 52mm fastman and tranny work.

with those mods you are going to be doing, you are probobly better off just getting your pcm flashed. tom fox has been the choice around here for a while. it used to be b&g flash, but i heard there customer service was horrible. i would give tom fox a call and see whats up. if you tell him your mods, he can flash your pcm according to those. there are a couple of people of that have his number. good luck!

It might take your PCM a few miles to adjust to the new exhaust. A simple pcm flash, I would also think a superchips would be nice for you.

Tom fox if you want to go the pcm flash route, or supechips for a handheld.

Let me know if you decide to go the superchips route!

what about for clearing codes and that kind of stuff? will the flash do that I know the superchips and those tuners will. how does the superchips do with performance. i have heard mixed reviews on them.

a flash isn't going to give you the ability to clear codes at the press of a button. You can still clear the codes by taking the negative off of the battery for a minute and re-installing it, this will reset the soft codes on the computer. The cool thing about the superchips is that it will display the code for you, and you can then go and look it up. Superchips I have seen anywhere from 10-20hp and 10-25 trq. MPG is an + as well as ability to select between different octane ratings for different perfomance settings.

Also, the new superPaq allows you to update via the web:)

After looking around. Does it matter that I got rid of the 2 02's from the precats. Isn't that going to give me bad a/f mixture causing my ride to run shitty. What can I do to fix that issue. I'm not so much worried about the after cat o2's as I can get sims and mess around with that but what about the precats. How much of a difference do they make?

you cant get rid of the pre cat o2 sensors. that is what sends signals to the pcm for your a/f.

My bad. Just confused but I got it now. But getting rid of the precats is more what I meant. What if any affect will that have on how my truck runs.
if you want get rid of the cats, just install the pre cat o2 sensors where they need to go, and hang the post cat sensors on the frame or get simms. i have mine hanging there and havent had any problems.

My question to you is, how far performance wise are you going to take your truck? Also, you can view codes without needing a handheld and you can clear them by disconnecting the battery cable like somebody already mentioned.

I would like to take it pretty far. Eventually maybe a blower or just do up the motor really good. I know how to view the codes by turning the key a few times but I would think the truck would benefit from a tune. I got a couple of buddies with a c5 and ss camaro and they said it made a big difference when they got theirs done.

Then I would probably go with SCT and e-mailed tunes from HEMIFEVER or various other vendors around here.
