my 3.9 that is stock made 192 hp and 250 tq on the dyno at school to the rear wheels. the only thing i changed was a edelbrock air cleaner and no muffler.
Umm...your stupid. Theres no way your STOCK 3.9 made that much power to the wheels unless they dyno was screwed up.

ANd a stock 3.9 is not going to run a 15 flat in a dakota.

Glad to see folks still Mod the 3.9L, It is funny to see the looks on the V8 crowds face when they run slower E.Ts at the track!
who runs slower than a 15??

that dyno at your school is smokin crack.

with all my mods, i only made 154/200 hp/tq and ran a 17.5 1/4 mile in a quad cab

I ran a 17.5 in the quarter mile stock. 1998 V6 5 spd, 3.21 gears. and that was traction limited. couldn't launch very hard in 1st, and had to be gentle with the power shift into 2nd or it would spin then too.

if your truck made 192 to the wheels at your school dyno, then my truck will put down 550 to the wheels on that engine dyno. (made 505 at the crank)

some dynos are very stingy, others are more liberal in their numbers. I'm guessing that your school isn't overly concerned with their dyno's accuracy, and don't care if it reads high.

when you did your fake 1/4 mile run on the dyno, was the dyno programmed to add resistance with speed based on the drag coefficient of your truck, as well as based on the weight of the truck? or does it just have a "1/4 mile mode...go!"

if you want an accurate representation of what your truck will do in a 1/4 mile is if you program in your drag numbers, vehicle weight, tire size, etc.

that way the dyno knows how much resistance to provide.

It doesnt matter..because if it said he was making that amount of power, it wasnt calibrated anyways.

Ive ran a mustang dyno. It does add resistance to the rollers to simulate the wieght you put into it. It had a electromaganetic brake on it. It does not add in wind resistance though. I ran 10mph quicker in the 1/4 mile on the dyno.

:jester::jester: thats funny. hey i wanna see the dyno results for this guy.

it was calabrated. if I wasn't 1000 miles from home at school I would post the dyno numbers but I dont have them with me at school. it was what the hp would be at sea level. the dyno was a mustang in ground dyno that is kept calabrated because the teacher puts race cars on it that he puts together and tunes befor it hits the track. the dyno was programmed to add resistance with speed based on the drag coefficient of my truck, as well as based on the weight of the truck.

What IS the drag coefficient on a Dakota?

I've gone to web calculators to try and get an idea of how much power it would take to go like 200 mph - but it wants frontal area and drag coefficient numbers. I made some up for the calculations, but if anybody has ACTUAL numbers, I'd love to see them.

im not shure what they are because the dyno has it programed in the computer and baced on the weight and somthing else it will add a number based on a real 1/4 mile run to compensate for the lack of wind. it is supose to be good to a 1/10 of a second of a real run down a track according to the people from mustang that was why the teacher got the setup for the school.

yeah well i have an electric turbo on my 96 with 150,000 miles. and i have 600 hp at the WHEELS, 8 second quater mile:funny: SARCASM!

you can think what ever you like i don't care!!! but when I can get to the track to get some track numbers i'll find out if it was wrong but until then that is wat I know. but the hp numbers well that might be a diffrent story cuse that is the only dyno around that I know of.:nana:

please go to the track, and get video's. il bet you it runs a 17 flat

i know for a fact that those dyno numbers are wrong. the 3.9 only makes 175 hp at the crank from the factory and with an auto, it only makes 125 at the wheels. theres a guy in my club that had more mods to his 3.9 and he had a 5 speed and he was making 167 hp before his heads and cam swap.

there are four things that are the most lied about on automotive internet forums. horsepower, 1/4 mile times, gas mileage, and dick size.
