Okay so my Sidewinder seats are coming in this week and I will have them installed this weekend. Not sure if it needs to be removed, but im going to anyway and take out the center console. So this got me thinking what to do with this space. So I mentioned to my dad the idea and he said what if we removed the cup holder console and moved my shifter down there. So basically take out the cup holder console and center console and replace it with a whole new custome console that takes up where both of them once were. Then bring the shifter down into the new console. This brought up a few problems tho.
First of all I have never moved a shifter like this before. My dad said he did it when he was younger, but im pretty sure it was on a car in the 80's so things have prolly changed since then. Just my guess tho. So has anyone ever done this before and know how much work it is??? Just lookin to get some answers on how hard it is.
Second I have a concept for the new console, but im not sure what to build it out of. I know I could do it out of wood, but i felt that it would be to "boxy" compared to the rest of the truck. Im not too familiar with fiberglass or any other material really. So im still uncertain what to do there.
I do know that once I get the seats in though I will take some measurements and Im going to build the console in a 3D modeling program at work called SolidWorks. That way I can visually see what looks good and what doesnt look good. Ill post a picture of that once I have it done. Basically im going to need some help on this. lol. This is going to be a long term project and I prolly wont get it done that quick, but I def would just like some feedback and help on any part of this. If my rambling doesn't make sense just let me know and ill try to better explain, but I appreciate any help from here out!:waiting:
