Ok I just noticed a strange squealing coming from my engine while I'm driving. It kinda sounds like a loose belt but also sounds like metal scraping the ground. It only happens while I'm coasting. I don't hear it while I'm accelerating. I would have said it's my belt but it has a weird metal grinding noise to it.

Does it do it at idle?

Nope just when I'm maintaining speed or coasting. I haven't heard it over 2000 RPMs though, but there's a possibility I can't hear it over the other noises.

Check your wheel and Caliber clearances, Maybe a wheel bearing is on its way out:huh:

Cheap if you do it yourself. Pop the rotor off and pry out the old bearing, grease up the new bearing and set it in. Your supoosed to use a press but if you dont have one a block of wood and a hammer will work just make sure it seats down evenly.

You sure you could get away with a block of wood and a hammer?
Cause I think one of my wheel bearing is out, if not on it's way...but I aint goota press.

The front wheel bearing comes as the whole hub unit. I've never heard of someone just replacing the bearing but I guess it could be done.

Listen. The whole point of the press is to distribute the force and seat it evenly, just like you use the old brake pad and a c clamp to reset a piston.

Now, You place the wood over the bearing, and try to hit it relatively close to center, the wood will distribute the force. I have done it on mine, but I dont want to hear "Nick said..." if it does not work. Ya dig?

I've done a flat piece of wood and a hammer to put it in before, just make sure you hit it centered so it doesn't go in crooked.

It really depends on the years.

It would have to be looked up.

Oh and 96daksport, they might sell just the bearing for your gen truck, but I couldn't find anywhere who sells it for mine, had to get the whole hub. Thanks for the info though.
If your front end parts are compatible it mine (98 Dak 2WD) then they sell them, but you have to ask for the exact part/part no. Timken bearing kit 41 or something like that...I'll look for it when I need to do mine.
