Looking for a standalone system for a boosted application. What are the options? Anyone have a megasquirt on a boosted application? Need input???

DFI or FAST

Cheap and standalone do not belong in the same sentence. If your gonna spend the money on the motor and boost, dont cut prices on the most important part.

Sure they do. I have maybe $500 in my MS2 setup.
Do you mind if I bombard yoou with questions?

Does MS2 control spark and fuel? Does it have datalogging software. Can you use a Wideband O2? Can you tune on the fly? Will it be OK with my 2-bar MAP? Can you access Power enrichment tables?

My MS2 setup is fuel only. If you tap the crank position sensor you can do fuel and spark. It will control everything just like any other stand alone. Out of the box it is set up to do 16x16 tables with a 2.5 bar MAP sensor. The Megatune software will log tons of info and practically tune the fuel tables for you as long as you have a good AFR table set up. I have a LM-1 connected to mine. Check out msextra.com if you haven't already.

Couldn't of said it better!

Why send all that money on a engine and skimp on what controls it.

We a WD for fast and also do installs. Their product works and has what I feel is the best tech support, both install and tuning.

Can MS offer remote tuning via Internet by their techs when your sitting on the dyno chewing up money trying to get through a tough problem?

Heres some pictures of our last install. Had to run this one in APHAN mode due to the TMW sidedrafts.

Then the MSII is right up your alley.

The install is no different than any other stand alone. You need to tap into various engine sensors. There is quite a bit of soldering involved. You have full control of timing, fuel, IAC, etc. It is a stand alone. I use mine for fuel only though. You will set CEL's and not pass emissions in MD with it. You cannot control your trans with it. That is something the factory PCM will still have to do.

that right there is your answer...if its in the shop, and not a daily driver...why not save up longer and get a good system? I know exactly who you are, John and I have talked about you...dont cut corners! :D

As stated by brad who is also doing a blown 408 himself.. Don't go cheap.. I am still in the build process..(ONLY waiting on fuel rails), and then the sct tune is taking place. I feel confident it will work, or else I will send it back and go stand-alone.
