Im lookin to get a cowl induction hood for my 1999 dodge dakota, and had some questions for the body guys. My truck is like the purple color, and its not faded anywere, but will it look bad with a freshly painted hood, and the rest old paint? Will it match perfectly as long as the paint codes match?? (given i will have the best body man in my area paint it). Excuse me if this a stupid question LOL i have no experience with paint.

A good painter can blend that into the fenders and you will never tell anything was painted.

Ok, so i should be ok with just painting the hood. Now, does anyone know were i can get a nice cowl hood maybe 4" or so??

you should probably blend into the front fenders and grille........and get the whole truck buffed while its there.......that way itll all be shinny and match with color, and shine pattern

There's no need to blend the fenders and yes your hood will look freshly painted and the fenders will look like they do now. The color will match but the shine of the hood will be much better. Now while its being painted, the shop can buff the fenders and get them to look much better as well so that you really won't notice the difference. Having them blend the fenders will be dumb and decrease the value of your truck and yes you can tell where paintwork has been done (including blends). I wouldn't worry much about it since the clear on the hood will get scratched and swirled like your factory paint in just a few months of being washed/waxed and from mother nature.

it all depends on the color of the paint as to whether or not to blend it, 99% of the time metalic colors need to be blended......if its not metalic i wouldnt worry about it

Uhhh WHAT? How is blending the fenders going to decrease the value of your truck? Would you rather have a hood that doesn't match? The only way you're going to be able to tell if it was painted is if it wasn't done right.

i'm sure you could but a lot of times the body parts for the dragtser trucks are longer and not replacement parts, I know one guy called and asked about the doors and found out they were like 2 inches longer or something
