yeah i was thinking gray but i just wanted to make sure so the color matches

The primer will be grey or very rarely red. Regardless of the color of your primer, you tint the paint to match the factory color the primer really won't affect it mutch. I have heard of tinting the primer with your factory color to make it match better but I've never seen it (I'm at body shops all day every day for work).

diffrent color primmer will make diffrent shades of paint. if i paint my parts with a red primmer and the rest are painted with grey primmer theres a good chance that the parts wouldn't match exactaully.

Gray. What are you painting and what are you painting it with?
i'm paintng my bed cover, upper bumper, mirrors, handles, and roll pan. I'm gonna use acrlic emnamel (sp) and my paint gun.

I am guessing its gonna be a Gray primer. And from what i believe colored primers only help out cover an area when painting better. Like if you are gonna paint a car red you might want to use a primer with a more red shade to help it cover more. If i am not mistaken. But i am still learning this stuff. Ill try to find out more info for ya.

arylic enamel is so much easier to work with. i also don't have a spray booth for the flash time of a base coat clear coat

on the dupont scale of 1-10 1 being white 10 being black intense blue uses a 6 so its a shade darker than medium grey a little on the darker side, the color of your primer very much affects how the color looks. i painted my bed tailgate and roll pan in automotive painting in college so this is coming from first hand experience

also check the phone book, or local shops i know around me theres places that rent paint booths by the hour. urethane base/clear in a booth is worth its weight in gold over acrylic enamel. just check it out:waiting:
