please vote only if you have a 4.7

I want to see how many of our members have had sludge and prove to our non 4.7 durango owner that the 4.7 isnt a sludge motor.

if the 4.7 is a sludge motor then atleast one of our members should have been hit by it.

who voted yes?

but on mine 108,00 miles and as much as i can tell its purdy clean...but if it matters any i have used amsoil since 12000 miles and have done 2 25k mile oil changes

The 4.7 doesn't have sludge issues, but many people say it does because of the milky shit that accumulates in the oil cap. That stuff isn't sludge, once it falls down into the oil pan, the minute amout of water that is in there evaoprates. Sludge is caused by bad oil and/or poor maintinence and some engine are more prone to buildup due to design.

Had mine opened up more then a few times... recreation reasons. I have been using Mobile 1 and the Fram HP-1 since the first 500 miles and have been so for the last 100,100 miles. No sludge what so eve.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

183,000miles and no sludge...suck on that u 4.7L smack talkers!

Shit, I've never even had that milky stuff in my cap. Clean as a whistle after 140K miles!

I use Mobile 1 full synthetic and change it EVERY 3001 miles. Mopar filters are sold at Wal-Mart too!

I do tend to run through a tank of gas quickly though. :D

have any of u guys tried the filter from the 4.6 mustang?...its longer so it filters more and its at the lowest part of the engine so it cools the oil a lil more...id post the part number for the filter...but i dont have it at hand...

I've been using the one from the 302, I think Fram p/n PH8a? Yes it does help, adds a bit more oil to the engine, and as stated sticks down further.

No sludge in here. 122,000, Mobil 1 every 3000 miles. Did my cams last year.

I believe its also Napa Gold oil filter p/n 1515. Book says use Napa gold 1085 on our trucks. 1515 is exact same size only about 2 inches longer.

Yeah, I always forget the other p/n's. The PH-8A always has a few replacement p/n's listed in the little book at the oil filter aisle. FWIW, I hate the Fram stuff & will take anything but their brand. Just don't ever tell a parts store employee that you're using an oil filter from a 5.0 on a 4.7. They will do their damndest to not sell it to you. I think it's part of the conditioning they go through!!
