Just bought a Python 871XV remote start security system i had it installed and the remote start doesnt work without the key in the ignition. The installer told me that i needed some sort of bypass transponder or something. Now, my truck did not come with the sentry key......why would i need this transponder, i thought you would only need it with the sentry key?

if its a grey key you need to get the other piece, all that it is is a bypass, and you will need to get another key cut for the bypass. if its like the one i installed

Black headed key = Find a new installer, he's an idiot.
Grey headed key = Find a new installer. He set-up your remote start without the bypass module. He should have told you that one was needed and installed it. Of course, he should have charged a little extra for it, but it's the only way you'll be able to use the remote start.
The nice thing is, with a grey headed key in the module and a remote start, the vehicle always thinks the key is in the ignition (as long as the chip is concerned) so you don't need another $80 chip key, you can use a normal black headed key.

Only problem is, with that module, it only gets powered up when it sees a + trigger from the remote starter. So if you just hopped in and tried to start it with a regular black key, it wouldnt work unless that module is powered up.BlackDak said:

Well, im going to have to get someone else to look at the damn thing b/c there is no way im paying for that bypass module if i dont need the fucker. There's gonna be some bitchin out pretty soon. Im willing to be he got some wires spliced in the wrong place. Anyone have some installation instructions? Going to see if i cant trace the wires.
