:help: Im changing my spindles and coils, and i cant get the damn spindle off the balljoint bolts. Ive been soaking the damn things with PB, and wacking the crapout of everything, but the crap wont budge. ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME!!!
My last resort is getting a torch and trying to heat up the spindle and hoping it will expand and pop off.

what you need is a pickle fork, or balljoint splitter or so, you just wedge it between the balljoint and spindle and whack away, but this may tear ur balljoints, theres another tool that slides between the BJ and spindle on the top and again on the bottom but slide it over the top in between and attach a bolt to the middle and wrench it and it will apply enuf pressure to pull the spindle off, i suggest to have the nut still on the BJ a lil.

Get a bigger hammer. :jester:

No reason to break out the torch. Are you hitting the spindle right where it joins the balljoint? In all my years of rebuilding front ends I have never needed to heat a spindle......

A pickle fork will get it if the pounding don't work but it will ruin the dustboot and damage the balljoint also...same result with the torch. ;)

As many times as I can remember, there has always been a flat spot on the edge of the spindle where the ball joint goes through it. That is where I have alsys beat the crap out of it, and it eventually break free and falls. That's why it's a good idea to leave the ball joint nut on a couple threads, so the spindle doesn't hit the ground when it breaks free.

try a bottle jack

put the bottle jack or a floor jack under directly under the lower control arm .jack up and change the angle . sometimes ball jt end is tapered and once you jack up the angle changes then hit with the hammer should drop out as jack let down

take all the nuts loose as possible and beat the snot out of the spindle where the tapered shafts go through. I have a 3lb hand sledge that is exellent for the job. I"d stay away from the pickleforks because you'll be replacing boots and maybe even joints by using them. I personally don't own a pickle fork

this shit is gettin ridiculous. Im starting to believe that this shit isnt even supposed to come apart. I put my jack in the middle of the spindle and im jacking off (ha ha) the bottom balljoint bolt and up against the top arm of the spindle.....its still not moving. Someone give me some more help before i take my grinder to this piece of shit.

I hope you have the truck supported somehow under the lower control arm...once that balljoint pops without the weight of the truck on the spring you will be in for a nasty suprise. Place a bottle jack or jackstand under the lower control arm as close to the balljoint as possible and have the weight of the truck resting on it, this will also avoid any binding of the bj.

Did you get a pickle fork yet?
