I'm looking and scrounging up parts everywhere I can find for these. Going to do each mod one at a time to see what kind of gains I get with each and will report back here to you guys about how everything goes. Throttle body should be in any day, 4:10's are sitting in the closet, spare set of heads have been ordered that I'm going to get worked over, and cams as well, still in decision mode on how big to go. Talking with a few different people about that right now. Still not decided on the APS or Fastman torque converter either. Right now the only mods I have are a CAI and true 2 1/2 in duals with x pipe. Haven't ever had it to the track but hopefully soon so I can get a baseline before I start doing the good stuff. Wish me luck!! :)

ok, this is going to make me look like an ass, but I had to check, I do have a 9.25 in the 4.7. I've see a on the sticker on the axle right behind the drum had 8.25 on it. But its a 12 bolt cover that I never counted before today. I really feel stupid as hell, I thought I had a 8.25 all this time. Well time to send the gears back and get the right ones

*UPDATE* Ordered the Sharadon Stage 3 valve body tonight, and my Auto Meter guages and Wideband Commander all came in today. Killian called today and said he had gotten my head porting done, so I just need to send him my valves and stuff so he can do the valve job and set up the springs, etc. Going to hit the dyno this week and report back to you guys. Hope to get over 200 hp this time at least!

i have a stupid question and hopefully someone can answer. i read somewhere that the 4.7 that went in the 05 dakota is different than the older 4.7s. is there any truth to that because i have an 05 SLT CC that's begging for me to go under the hood. i haven't been able to get a straight answer anywhere else i've asked, so i'm hoping you guys can help me out. and if it IS the same 4.7, then i'm going to drain my bank account. also, where is the sticker for me to check my gears? thank you all in advance for your help.

I know the engine computer is different from 2004-up because the Superchips program runs up to 2003. The compression ratio changed from 9.3:1 to 9.5:1. HO cams are still one of the most cost effective performance mods, along with air intake and freer-flowing exhaust (especially the Y-pipe). BTW, Air Ram has the Superchips 3715 for $299 at the moment.
www.allpar.com/mopar/47.html is a good info read on the 4.7.

I thought the 4.7's were pretty much the same up until this years model when it jumped to 300 hp, but I'm not positive on that. The sticker to check what gears you have should be stuck to the bottom of your glove box.

I didn't change my gears and converter all at the same time, but each of those mods by themselves were far and away the best mods I have done to my truck. If you do them both together at the same time you will notive a VERY nice kick in the ass from them.

by HO cams what do you mean? i read somewhere that the cams from the high output 4.7 drop right in.
check out this link, if you scroll down it talks about the HO cam and intake upgrade for the 4.7.

i just have a thing for the 360...always have. when i had my intrepid i was toying with the notion of dropping a 360 and converting it to rear wheel drive til i realized what a piece of crap it was. hemis are nice and everything...but clast loves the 360.

You could always put on a nice cat back. My 3" gibson really woke up my 4.7, and it could be used behind the hemi later!
i'm just gonna build up my 4.7 and store it in case my new engine blows up.

yeah and with the 360 you would have to get a different tranny.

hey when you guys talk the y pipe on the exahust you are just talking about the junction between the right and left sides of the engine right...where they meet on the passenger side of it?...

yes.....that would be it
