I was wondering how hard it would be to swap tone rings on a newer Dakota/Durango 4.7 engine with a 99 WJ 4.7 tone ring.

Would an engine from a newer Dakota/Durango with a 4.7 fit and wire up to 99 WJ with a 4.7.

Any Dakota 4.7 up to 2002 will drop right in, same tone rings.

Any Durango 4.7 up to 2001 will drop right in. Many '02 Durangos will as well, just confirm the tone rigns are right. Durangos went to NGC computers in mid '02.

I think Jeeps followed the same years as Dak/Dur models.

Swapping tone rings requires full teardown of the engine because of the crank wheel. Cam wheel is easy to change.

FYI... We now offer both the JTEC & NGC tone rings on our site. This should help people build just about any 4.7L engine no matter what year.

All you need to know is what PCM you have and then chose the tone ring correct to your application.
