Does anyone know how much a good window tint job would cost? I want to go kinda dark but not limo. I called a few places and was quoted $80 for the front windows at 50% tint. The other place i called would do the same for $55. He said if the back is tinted at all that is usually as dark as you can go.... Is this true??? Also is 50% the legal limit I live in Wisconsin. Im pretty sure ive had some friends that had 35% tint but im not sure. Any help is appreciated... thanks

I was quoted $130 to tint my extended cab with 5% in the back and 15% up front. But I got the hook up from a friend and scored some free tint and did it myself. You need to do it yourself it isn't as hard as everbody makes it out to be trust me. This was my first time tinting windows and it looks like a pro done it :D

LOL thanks adam :explode: (I just love these little icons, they are absolutly Hilarious) You did it by yourself huh. How did you go about it? are we talking about the kit you can buy at walmart? As you say i have heard many failed opportunitys and shitty jobs done. I personally have never tried it but would be very interested to hear how exactly you did it.

What are your tint limits in your state? cause 15% and 5% in the back sounds dark as hell. would you consider that limo tint???

don't pay big money for an illegal job. you'll end up having to pull it off if you have state inspections. like adam says "do it yourself". not that hard at all. I use glass plus instead of soap and water. use a fresh blade and buy yourself a skwe-gee (spelling)for window tinting.

We have 35% here but my uncle does my inspections.

First off I got a spray bottle and poured a cap full of dish soap in and filled the rest with water. I had 2 new blades this is a must to cut the tint when you trim it not rip it. And I used my Cali. water blade that I use to dry my truck off with.

This is the most important part here. Make sure to keep your window wet! Soak it down it will be alright. place your tint on the window move it to where you want it and start to push the water out with your water blade. Trim it up and your done it's that simple. You may have some water spots still left inside but give it a couple of days and it will dry right out.

But do try and do it yourself. You'll be pissed after you do it and find out how simple it was then start thinking about what somebody else wanted to tint your windows. $130 was a lot for me that I saved doing it myself.

here's another trick. take two pieces of tape and apply it to both sides of the tint. leave enough hang'n off the edge (like tabs) don't let them touch. then pull the tabs apart. it'll aid you in pulling the tint away from the clear piece.

clean your windows well before you start...no residue, lint, and absolutely no fingerprints or oils...and dont use that cheap ass walmart tint. try and go to a tint shop and see if they will sell you some...adam, that tint you got was top of the line tint...that little bit i gave you was $40 my cost...the rolls are about 3 bills each. but as you can see its worth it. it will never discolor and should never peel, unless the windows werent cleaned well.

i did mine myself.....cost 15 bucks...only brand i'll use...GILA (from Murrays). works great, doesnt fade, and lasts very good. Might sound cheap or ghetto or whatever but it beats the hell outta spendin like 100 or more...when you can get a good try for 15 bucks... ya might even get lucky, and get it good the first time around..which is what happened to me.....and now im doing other peoples windows, cuttin designs outta tint.....and stuff like that. alot easier than it looks.....remember to be patient - if you hurry, youll screw up

I tinted my front windows with 35%. Legal in Mass is 30% I think. A buddy and I did both of our trucks in a couple hours from start to finish. It was pretty easy. I was surprised, because it was my first time ever trying something like this. Definitely keep the window and the tint wet. Don't worry about getting your interior wet. You will have to re-armorall afterwards because the interior vinyl will get a little spotty. Good luck. Let us know how it comes out.

50% tint is a waste of time and money. 30-35% is a good start. anything darker than that, and youll be taking it off with the po po watching you do it. any place will give you what you want. there after your money. they dont care about the risk. its not illeagal for them to sell it too dark, just illeagal for you to use it (to a certain percentage), and the side windows cant have nothing on them at all here in pa. but do i care...NOOO, ill be putting the tine back on sometime. i have 30 on the back window of mine, i was told by a cop i could go darker too for the back window, just not too dark for the doors.
