So I have a 95 Dakota that came with the scissors jack and tools. It was a great jack best I've ever had, until somewhere in the middle of the rod some of the thread got torn up. Now I can't get it to work at all. I bought a 6 ton bottle jack, Dakota is stock height but the jack doesn't look to have enough height to reach.

Any suggestions? Any options?

Use a good floor jack, alas.

Yes, it won't quite fit as well behind the driver's seat or under the rear seats. But it'll do the job just fine.

Does the new bottle jack have a screw head to take up the distance? If not, carry a few pieces of wood to use as cribbage.

No, the bottle jack doesn't have a screw to make up for difference.

Would it be possible to repair the original? Machine shop maybe?

What's wrong with just going to the junkyard and buy another one for 5 bucks?

Nothing's wrong with that, I just didn't think about it. The times I've been to the junkyards around I've just overlooked that section.

So yeah I'll check that out!
