This truck didn't come from NY did it? I swear my boss was just talking about his 06 he had just this morning.. He had the same problem and the dealer gave him a run around for ever with it. He finally traded it in with only 12k on the clock, and bought a Ford. He said it only leaked if it was facing the same direction when it rained. if he turned the truck around it would stop. maybe the bottom of the windshield sealant is bad? Maybe coming through the cowl somewhere?

Yup I'd lay the hose right on the cowl and make sure the truck is facing up hill so the water takes longer to run off or out of where it puddles up.. If you find it please let me know so I can tell him about this. I know he's long gotten rid of it but he'd be interested for sure.

Did you ever find the source of your water leak. On the 2005 and later trucks, I doubt if it can be the A/C condensate problem that older Dakotas experienced. Ours has a hard plastic, oval shaped drain that is protected/obscured by a metal heat shield.

I did find that the cargo/brake light assembly had the gasket partially tucked inside the opening and was letting water run in and down the side and along the floor.

I too suspect a leak in the passenger kick-panel area, but haven't located it.

Has anyone solved this problem?

Mine turned out to be the two holes with rubber grommets in the cowl pan beneath the wiper linkage. Remove wiper arms, plastic cowl panel and look for the two rubber stoppers in the bottom. The driver's side seals a round hole, but the passenger side is an oval and the plug doesn't work very well. I sealed both with an RV sealant called Dicor. My problem seems to be fixed.
