Reading the Chiltons manual says “most models are equipped with reusable gaskets, normally steel backed silicone.” Mine are leaking like the devil. If I decide to replace them, 1) are they really supposedly reusable, and 2) if you replaced yours what type gasket material worked best? There are rubber ones and other types. Just looking for best product to use. Thanks.

Thanks, Ralph. What is a felpro bolt? I am thinking they are different from the original on my truck.

Felpro had some bolts to replace the factory studs on the valve covers, to make sure they sealed properly.

For instance, for my 1988, I used the Felpro VS50436R gasket set; they call for the Felpro ES 72135 bolt set.

For a Magnum, Felpro lists the VS50420R gasket set, but no bolt set needed, on the 3.9.

I was just stating what I had used on my different motor; so far they're not leaking anymore. Time will tell.

(Sucker STILL does about 800 miles per quart of oil, dang it!)
