Hey guys,

I'm moving to the DC area but living in VA in the near future. I was reading up on the vehicle law and it said that hod scoops have some limits. Does anyone have a shaker hood, and if so, have you got stopped for it? Does anyone have any insight into this?

I can't tell you specific laws, in any given state, but most laws are published online these days.

As for laws concerning hood scoops. I heard about something like this many, many years ago for a completely different state. The gist of the law as I remember it was, basically the law limits the size of a hood scoop as large ones can block forward view which can result in hitting other vehicles or pedestrians. Many vehicles come factory equipped with hood scoops but you can easily see over most of them. However if you happen to have a scoop that looks like it came off a top fuel funny car or pro stock race car, half the view over the hood is blocked and could result in running something or someone over. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but you can find out what the laws say where you live.
