I have a 1999 Dakota slt 4x4 5.2l v8 with automatic transmission. According to my glovebox stamp, I have a Chrysler 8.25 rear end with 3.55 gear ratio. I would assume the front has the same ratio, but where it is supposed to id the front axle, it just says 3400#. What does 3400# mean?

Also does not say wether or not the front ratio is the same. I would assume that it is, but this stuff is still kinda new to me. I haven’t had much experience with these trucks

3400# is the weight rating of the axle. 3400 lbs in this case.

Should be the same gearing on both axles if it's a 4x4.
