so i was reading in the a previous thread about how on the 4.7 headers aren't worth spending the money for them because there is a minimal change and i just want to know if someone could confirm this?

thanks

I got gibson shorty stainless on my dak and I had better exhaust flow than stock and it helped the sound alot. The flow wasnt that much but you could tell that it was there. I am very pleased with them. :rockwoot:

They are one of my favorite mods. Even if you pick up 10hp youre not going to "feel" a big improvement. But they do make the exhaust sound quite alot better than with the stock manifolds. Once you start throwing a few mods on the truck they will start to show their true potential.

they will help...but only with certain mods....like don't just to the headers and leave the rest of the exhaust stock

So are you thinking about getting a set of headers or just curious about the flow.

I personally didn't notice any difference in the JBA's i had besides the sound. Track times stayed the same (not even a .01 difference), even after changing the exhaust and intake. personally I don't think they are worth the $ for such little difference.

I noticed a different with the gibsons. Better MPG. throttle response, more power througout whole power band, I also did a complete exhaust, headers, to x to mufflers. Might not have got a whole lot of power, but my dakota definatly is distinct by it's sound. I get asked all the time what do I have under the hood, and I have to tell them that heads and cam are still a few months out and they just look at me like damn. I say buy the gibsons and do a FULL exhaust. Please have 70mm tb, intake, and full exhaust,or the headers won't do a whole lot for you.

Good long tubes are great and well made mid lengths are good too. Shorties are better then manifolds but the margin is slim.

There are a few and people have paid BIG money and they are built on the truck/jeep. That's probably why there are not allot of pictures floating around.

I have had 2 different magnaflow setups and many flow masters over the years. I personally like my Magnaflows.

Hopefully this thread isn’t dead. It’s obvious they don’t sell headers for the 4.7 Dakota 2008-2011. My question is has anybody try to fit the GEN ll headers on the GEN lll Dakota? Wouldn’t it work if it’s the same motor what’s the big difference??

I believe the bolt pattern is different on the two-plug heads. I could be wrong, though. I do know that the manifolds exit the head at a different angle between the two.

My 2001 Dak had cracked the stock exhaust manifolds back in 2013. I got a set of Gibson headers ceramic coated, and installed with Stage 8 locking stainless steel header bolts. Been trouble free and sounding good, now at 203,000 miles.
