with today's knowledge,I like a 3 inch single (mandrel bend) with hi-flow cat and hi-flow muffler.I would use duals w/ H or X pipe if i was pushing big HP on a race/street vehicle;-450+ horse power

This totally depends on what kind of numbers you want to put down. If you're sticking mainly to bolt-ons then i'd go with a 3in single with a muffler and no cat (depending on your emissions laws). For a heads/cam truck go with the 2.5 duals with an x-pipe.
