Need help. My 2001 dakota SLT has a loud rattling noise under load coming from the transfer case. It goes away when I engage the 4x4 then comes back when i disengage. Fluid looks good. Ideas?

I do know those CV/axle shafts going from the transfer case to the front Dif can go bad and make noise, your best hope..

I took the front shaft and the noise completely went away. I ordered a new front shaft since the u joints on the old shaft were seized. I will keep posted the result of the new shaft...

That’s great news, I had the same thing happen and I was worried it was a transfer case and it ended up just being that shaft
