I need some help here. I have a set of the stock R/T rims and even got the spare tire. So I know that they came with Goodyear 255/55-17 but it appears that this size is no longer produced. So I am looking for a tire in this stock size or another size but I want to keep pretty close to the same overall height of the 255/55-17. :redx: If any one suggests a Kuhmo tire I will come to your house and torch your Dak. We have a set coming off my wife's GT Stang tomorrow and I think that I will burn them and dance around them with glee.

Go to www.tirerack.com and punch in that tire size. You will find every thing they carry including Goodyear. Also do a search for any year R/T and you will get some alternative sizes.

Thats exactly what I'm running on mine! I love these tires. They are the same overall height as the goodyears but are one inch overall wider. They handle great!

Goodyear= $$$ pieces of crap, esp if ya try to get the stock RSA`s that came on these trucks.

Have had great luck with the Kuhmos... but to each his own. Nittos are OK if ya plan on dry weather driving, they suck in the rain. Bridgstone Fusions are also a decent tire.

I tried TireRack. They have a whole 6 tires to chose from 2 super expensive Avon, 1 Kuhmo, 1 Goodyear that are out of stock till like the third week of Aug and 2 others I don't like. I will not buty from TireRack anyway because of the Kuhmos. I had two of the four have had problems with. One tire went flat within 12hrs of being on the car and another one of the tires would not keep proper presure (very slow leak). TireHacks wanted me to return the tires for inspection. How the hell do you send back two tires? Do I put iton blocks in my driveway?!?!? How do I get to work to buy more tires?!?!?! :cussing: Then I called Kuhmo ad they set me to an authorized dealer which just happen to be the same company that I had install the tires. They tried to "patch" the tires but there was still problems. The repair guy told me that "off the record" there was issues with these tires but Kuhmo would not allow him to replace the tires. So for their cost of two tires they get me telling anyone that is intested what a POS company TireHack, Kuhmo and Tire Kigdom is.

Long live my Firestones!

I did a internet search and found www.1010tires.com they have lots of tires to fit the R/T rims.

There isn't a tire company out there that I haven't heard complaints about and Firestone is no exception. I've had crappy Firestones, crappy Goodyears and very crappy General tires. If every tire company is a POS in someone's opinion where do you go to buy tires?

When you buy tires on the interenet, you are stuck with them. Returning them after they are mounted is not usually an option because shipping will kill you. If you don't want to pay the high prices of local tire stores, which usually honor the warranty and road hazard guarantee, you will just have to take your chances.

R/T's are 255/55-R17 all around.

Try toyo proxes S/T's. Great looking tire and it's all season. Have not tried it in snow yet? Anyone with experience with these tires in the white stuff. My neighbor said they were fine on his escalade.

I had Toyo on my 87 Shelby Charger and I would say that they were some of the best tires that had owned. The thing that I remember most about those tires was that had to put almost no balance weights on the rim. We just installed Firestone Wide Ovals on my wifes Stang GT. One wheel has not balance weight, another has one of the smallest weights. The other two also have fairly small amount of weight for balance. I installing new valve stem caps when I noticed that these tires were mase in Japan. The quality of tires coming from Japan is pretty good. We are waiting to try the new rubber in the rain. That is a big factor for us here in Florida.

But I will have to check out the Toyo's.

I second for the 255 50 17 Bridgeston Fuzion ZRi's. They are an inch shorter then stock, looks perfect on lowered trucks. A lil funny on stock ride hieght. Id go with the 255 50 if you plan to lower within the next year, otherwise stick with 255 50 or 275 50
