does it whine?
yep, unless straight line where i dont have to touch steering wheeldoes it whine?
Is it leaking?well gotta replace it and tomorrow i am gonna knock it out since gonna be almost 70 which is odd around here. So any tips or things i should look out for cause it looks like i gotta pull more then power steering pump off to get to it. Thank god tho cause right now parking and slow turns are a bitch and it whines like a mother fudger and i have to rev it above 2 grand for pump to work and it whines like a bitch. I dont get why core charges are so outrageous either, place i looked at 55 dollar core so ima take it off then go get new part.
have you tried lucas oil stop leak and conditioner? i had an issue with a hardness in the steering. i drained out the old shit, dropped this stuff in, and let it run for a little while, while turning the wheel back and forth (get the front end off the round first though to get the stress off the steering rack and stuff)...see if it works. 8-12.oo or whatever it is, better than 55.well gotta replace it and tomorrow i am gonna knock it out since gonna be almost 70 which is odd around here. tired all no leak and plenty in there, has gotten worse over time. do i need pulley tool or will a normal pulley remover work?Is it leaking?
Is the fluid level correct?
Have you tried "never leaks" sealer?
If you have to replace it, you will need a p/s pulley remover/installer tool. The pump, pulley and reservoir, are all separate pieces. That's why the core charge is high.
franklin mills mall has one i think. check their website for local stores.dont get me wrong i know what im doin i tend to over think it and make it seem worse. Damn no harbor frieght around here cause id buy it for 10 bucks
If it has a groove right at the end of the nose of the pulley, that's where the removal/installer tool goes. The groove is to remove it. The threads in the end of the pump nose are to install it.franklin mills mall has one i think. check their website for local stores.
hey modain:
its a steel pully.
take it off and stick it in a bucket of soapy water(using dish soap), scrub it and let it dry good before putting it back on.Not that anyone prob cares but its done and works well *knock on wood* except squeaky belt from it being covered in anti freeze and power steering fluid. If u know way to fix squeak id appreciate it.
the reservoir is held on by with 3 bolts on the back and its easy to do and i ended up getting a completely new pump and reservoir cause there was lil crack in it. I got the whole assembly at advance auto for 60 bucks. How did the resovoir go? I need to do this also. I have the pulley puller though. Same as a Ford. All of the reman pumps by me are all $113 and up.
