Depends on where it's leaking. Is this a Magnum engine? The biggest issue is having to pull the balancer off. The bolt can be a pain if you don't have an impact.

No its not. 5.2s and 5.9s are Magnum. 4.7 is a Powertech engine. Absolutely nothing in common with the Magnum.

got to pull the balancer, water pump tentioner belt clutch fan a/c compressor, alt, then all the bolts to the timing cover

REMOVAL
  • Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  • Drain cooling system and remove viscous fan drive assembly. Refer to Cooling System for procedures.
  • Remove radiator shroud. Refer to Cooling System for procedure.
  • Disconnect both heater hoses at timing cover.
  • Disconnect lower radiator hose at engine.
  • Remove crankshaft damper.
  • Remove accessory drive belt tensioner assembly (Fig. 73).
  • Remove the generator and A/C compressor.
  • Remove cover and gasket (Fig. 74).




INSTALLATION
  • Clean timing chain cover and block surface. Inspect cover gasket and replace as necessary.
  • Install cover and gasket. Tighten fasteners in sequence as shown in (Fig. 74) to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) .
  • Install the A/C compressor and generator.
  • Install crankshaft damper.
  • Install accessory drive belt tensioner assembly. Tighten fastener to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) .
  • Install lower radiator hose.
  • Install both heater hoses.
  • Install radiator shroud and viscous fan drive assembly. Refer to Cooling System for procedure.
  • Fill cooling system.
  • Connect the battery negative cable.
Book service time with A/C is 3.8 hours, but I don't see it taking more than 2 - 2 1/2 unless you're trying to do it sloshed.. :D

DO NOT try to use a jaw puller on the balancer. You need a 'chickenfoot' style puller otherwise you will destroy the balancer. They are available for free borrowing at any Autozone (you basically pay a 100% deposit then get it all back when you return it).
