I would like to put a sunroof in my quad cab but not sure if it is possible. I do NOT want the automatic/electric sunroof (too expensive), just the ones that flip up. Here is the problem....I have the overhead console that displays the temp/compass/gas mileage/etc. I still want to keep that so is it possible to put a sunroof in my quad cab with the overhead console still in?

Does anyone have a flip up sunroof in their quad cab and still have the overhead console? If so can you post pics too? Also, what size sunroof do you have?

Thanks

with the ribs on top and the solid one under the headline it`s vertually impossible to get a water tight seal. i`ve already tried to have it done.

I was looking at having a sunroof installed in my Club Cab truck while retaining the overhead console since I have it processed with Hydro-Graphics. You shouldn't have any problems at all with having a decent-sized sunroof installed in your Quad Cab roof, the only issue may be that they may not be able to install it as far forward as you may like since there needs to be a bit of a gap between the console and the glass because of the sunroof frame/hardware.

The problem with the QC as far as putting a sunroof in are the ribs on the roof like Suffolk said. They're up there for rigidness. Its a big roof and without the ribs it would dent really easy and be wavy. You could technically do it. You could cut all the sheet metal off the roof and weld in new smooth flat stuff without ribs but its not going to be very structurally sound, its gonna be really expensive and a huge pain in the ass. So probably not worth it unless you filthy rich. But good luck with whatever you decide. Man sometimes I'm a real downer. People say I'm a pesimist. I just say I'm a realist. lol

That is what I was thinking...and since I am not filthy rich (or not even rich at all) looks like the sunroof idea won't happen. Also, if there would be sunroof in there, I think it would be so far back because of the overhead console that I wouldn't be able to reach and open it. It would basically be a sunroof for the people in the back!

Oh well. Thanks for the input.

I'd be mad too if I was 17 years late to the conversation.

You know I had a similar idea. But I was thinking about 2 smaller sunroofs (maybe half size) and installing them to either side of the QC. Say maybe the small flat flip up squares from an RV or something similar. IDK .... I will be back with a picture of the panels I am thinking about.

the ones on the left could be set to whatever width they needed to be to miss the QC. Anyone ever seen T-tops on a Dak?

I found a sunroof equipped quad cab Dakota when I was looking for a transfer case due to mine getting destroyed due to the front drive shaft CV-joint failed.😢
It was a loaded SLT with the 5.9, leather, heated seats, and 4x4. But, the bed was rusted out badly and the cab was getting bad as well.
