A guy here in my town does this on the side to many vehicles. Use older Saab hood hinges, it will move the hood, and on our trucks the grill, straight out far enough to clear the bumper before finally tilting foreward.

Wouldn't it be really hard because the hood/grille combo is an "L" shape..I would think that the grille would want to go into the radiator when you would open the hood.

Maybe I'm wrong though...unless you found some hinges that go up and out? Or you would have to make the grille stationary.

Sounds like it would be hard but a sweet effect nonetheless!

I agree with you, because of the hood and grill combo it would have to hang way out in front of the truck.
I have considered it before but gave up because of that issue.
Another vehicle that may work for the hinges would be the 87+ Buick LeSabre's. I have a 88 LeSabre T-type that has the suicide hood, there is a rubber snubber attached to the hood that sits on the bumber when open to carry some of the weight.

doesnt AutoLoc make a universal kit? If not, yeah i would say try the old SAAB hinges or maybe some older BMW hinges. Both should be easy to get at a junk yard.

I was thinking about this the other day...but I was thinking how cool would it be if somehow you can tie in the fenders, hood, grille, and front bumper all together and make one solid piece. Then the whole thing could flip foward to get to the engine bay. Kinda like the same way a semi truck does. I'm sure it could be done with a helluva alot of work..... all you need is some good ol' american know-how! :biggthump

very doable however....... being that gen 3 fenders are one peice, there is too much to attached. now if you made a seperate inner fender for all the wires, fuse box, etc and just move the outer fender, it would work. just need to lenghten the hedlight wires and a few others. the core support would also pose a mild problembut it is workable. tossing arouind the idea of doing that to a customers gen 2. we'll see what happens this summer
