this maybe a stupid question but i was with my friend early today and he wanted to do a 4x4 swap for his 2500 cummins, he started talking about dana 40's and dana 60's.

I have a '98 dakota sport with the 318 and a 3.55 rear end how would i find out unless someone else already knows if they have a dana and what one?

I also have a '77 cj-7 3 speed inline 6,at my cottage was wondering what that would have to if anyone knows and if anyone did that kind of swap?

on the dak it should tell you on the sticker in the glove box, but it's probably the dana 35 ifs. the 44 and 60 are solid axles which is normally what people try and swap in. the 44 is a good swap for the front on a dak and you can get them out of older jeeps and fords for cheap.

97-99 Dak/Dur used the D35 IFS.

00-current Dak/Dur and Ram 1500 use the c205mm (8") IFS.

You could have an 8.25" or 9.25" rear axle...they were both used. 10-bolt or 12-bolt cover respectively.

Weren't the 9.25s used just on the R/ts? With 3.90 gears?
