I have just bought a 98 durango, it has only 58k miles on it and everything inside of the truck works great!...... except the radio -_-. it turns on and looks like its working, but no sound comes out. i know it has the upgraded sound system due to the infinity tweeters in the doors. but does anyone have any idea where the stock amp would be???? i have a feeling the wires came undone from the amp seeing as how the headunit works fine. please, any help would be great! im also new to the forum.

i was having same problem but the wire were connected i bypassed it using a wire diagram i found online ill post it for you

ok everything is plugged into the amp and looks like i should be working but its not, i looked at the wireing diagram? do i have to just splice the correct speaker wires together or do i have to get a harness type thing for it??

I removed the factory amp and replaced it with a Blaupunkt THA 475 amp (which is in the factory location) The factory amps aren't bad. Good luck if you decide to bypass.

I bypassed the other day just spliced the wires following the diagram still dowsnt work do u have an aftermarket HU or stock like mine thats what im replacing this week

Yea I just spliced everything also following the diagram and still doesnt work. I also have the stock hu but I guess im gonna have to buy afermarket. It doesnt make sense to me but it is what it is lol. Im most likely going to re wire whole car new speakers and hu. My speakers were also dry rotted :l.

Ok well, i just ended up getting a new head unit, i got a singledin with a dounble din face plate touch screen (vir-7022nr), i got all new door speakers and i got 4 coned tweeters made by kicker, and then got 2 15' Mofo subwoofers and a soundstream 2800 watt amp. with 2 gage wire, now i have to get a yellow top battery and a copasitor.. i spent just around 1200 bucks everything. and i still have to make a box. im trying to do a custom install and ill pics up soon to show i appriciate your help with the stock stuff before but aftermarket is the way to go!

just ripped out my stock head/amp for a new system..

..I'm going to miss the steering wheel controls but the improvement in sound should make up for it

They make an adapter that allows you to keep your steering wheel controls working with aftrermarket head units. I think PAC makes it, but not sure of part number.

It depends which stereo you have. If you have the Infinity system, there is an amp, I think behind the right kick panel. If you have the non-Infinity system, then no amp.

Well then it clearly DOESN NOT work. Start with the fuse for the amp circuit.

There is a wiring kit that will allow the controls to still work check with boss or stosich
