I have a 00 R/T dakota and at WOT it will stick in gear and ping off the limiter
until I let off the throttle. I just replaced the trans. governor selonoid and the preasure sensor and the tv cable is ok the T.P.S is also ok. but it is still sticking. I have been told it might be a valvebody issue. I'am under the impression that a new valvebody isn't cheap and a new tranny might be a better route. I'm not excited about either option since the truck has 95k on it and is out of warranty, otherwise the truck is in tip top shape and haven't had any problems. Also around town it appears to shift normal only at WOT does a problem appear.

I have the same problem with my truck and I only have 35k...I first noticed this at the drag strip last weekend, and for some reason it will shift fine sometimes but the majority it wont, granted this is only the 1-2 shift all the higher gears seem to be ok...I have no idea whats causing this and it is killing me..till then, Chris.

Check the tps. Mine was having shifting problems simular to what wou are describing. The computer is not seeing wot and not pulling the trans out of kickdown.

I have the same problem. Any solutions? I've been to numrous (sp) trans shops and three dealerships and no answers.

Inadequate tranny fluid pressure can cause it to stick. Also the detent (throttle valve) cable being adjusted too tightly will definately cause it to stick under WOT. I have had the same problem twice - once it was a crimped tranny line, the other time an improperly adjusted detent (t.v.) cable. Both times it got worse the hotter the tranny got. Last time, I just loosened the t.v. cable up about 1/8th inch and was good to go. Also, bad motor/tanny mounts can cause the engine/tranny to twist/shift violently under power and bind up the t.v. linkage if it comes into contact with something. Hope some of you are as lucky as I was. What kind of tranny is it - valve bodies are usually $150-200, but I doubt thats it. Check the t.v. cable again. Have you changed the tranny fluid/filter lately and looked for excessive metal shavings/chunks in the pan? Up to a teaspoon of fine shavings is normal. Hopefully it's not just getting tired and slipping under power.
