I have what I would like to call the quickest 4.7 QC Ram around. My Ram had a 4.7 when it started life and has a 5.7 in its place using the 4.7 PCM, Harness, and SCT custom tuning. At my power level, I would not recomeend it without some form of TCM tuning. Its a transmission murderer in a heavy truck.
I guess there are many ways to skin this cat after all... 4.7 harness can work on the Hemi? Makes life a lot easier... And nevermind a TCM flash - I'd do that and a tranny rebuild by default just to handle all extra power - I have no intention of leaving the Hemi stock, not when I can play with it before dropping it in the truck!

I had to swap a few connectors using pigtails I sourced from the 07 5.7 Harness, but I have zero issues making sense of electrical diagrams. Your 02 might not be as easy because it is JTEC rather than NGC.

The news just gets better and better every day. I'm still about a year out for my swap, but just like you said, no way will I leave a motor at stock when I have it outside the truck. The world is your oyster at that point.

Fast, do you happen to have links to the wiring diagrams you had to use? Or know off hand, which ones you did end up using?

I was thinking of going with one of those 392 5.7 stroker long blocks or maybe just a reman shortblock and upgrade with forged internals for boost.

not trying to thread jack, seen you when you op'd. but im gonna be looking to do the same, but was wondering thsi for anyone who knows.
if i was to want to transfer my 4.7 headers to my 5.7 would they bolt on? because im sure if i was to buy 5.7 headers, there would be a fitment problem in the bay. same goes for other parts, what does and doesnt bolt on

I've read that Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 exhaust manifolds fit the Dak/Dur frame, and are basically headers. $90/set on www.car-part.com

For me its headers, AC compressor lines, and engine mounts. Use the 4.7 engine harness and splice in the 5.7 connectors, and find or build fitting radiator hoses then get a hemifever tune with SCT. 4X4 will have to mod the oil pan.

And thanks for the srt8 headers idea. That will save a boat load of hassle if those fit.

But no, 4.7 headers will definitely not fit.

What was your search criteria to come up with that? I found the $45 exhaust manifold searching for a 2007 JGC exhaust manifold 6.1 and the description was listed as 1959 Pontiac.

I just noticed that... Pick the other manifold, it pops up with 1987 Mitsubishi Lancers! Ok, call me unsure of price, but I've read on here that they will fit.

so no headers, good headers would fit? otherwise maybe ill make my own
Are you talking about headers for a Hemi in your Durango vs. in a Hemi in a Dakota swap???

OK for a 4.7 to hemi swap in a 2003
you will need
5.7 Hemi from a dodge ram 1500 perferably a 03 or 04 as it wont be a MDS engine
Mopar performance cable actuated TB (You will not be drive by wire)
SCT tuner from hemi fever
Data logger with wideband
Custom AC lines
You may have to fab the engine mounts
Custom fabbed oil pan

As for wiring
You will need to extend or shorten some wires to keep things looking clean. You will also need to change a few connectors on the harness to work with the Hemi sensors.

YOU will NOT need to rewire the truck!!

As for the transmission you have the 545RFE trans which is the same trans that the hemi's use. If I were you with the miles that are on your engine and trans I would buy a low mileage engine and trans combo from a 2wd ram. That way you have a fresher trans. If not you can use the trans that you have but I feel as though you may be on borrowed time with it.

So with the items listed above you will ned to fabricate some parts but once that has been done its just about a plug and play as you can get. This type of swap will only work with the 2003 or newer trucks because the Hemi uses a 32 tooth tone wheel. Same as the 03-newer 4.7's also the computer is a NGC controller basically the same as the Hemi. Once you have the engine in and running you will need to make some datalogs for Hemifever so he can dial in your A/F and timing.

For the 03 or newer 4.7L trucks its alot like the mustang guys do with the 4.6-5.4 swap.

Ill try to help answer any questions I can. Josh (HemiDak) and I have poored over all the information I have gathered on this swap for my own 2003 and everything say it will work. I know of some ram guys that have swapped from the 4.7 to the Hemi and had no issues. Im still in the parts procurment stage for my swap but mine will have more of a twist to it.
You sound like you've done your homework! I have a 2012 with a 4.7 with a dropped valve. Wondering if a 2008 5.7 would swap into it? Have the complete donor vehicle. Or where to go find more information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
