My 2006 seems to have a mid pitched whine from 65 to 75 mph. I am suspecting wheel bearings even though they seem tight. Truck has 139k, is a awd 4x4 with 4.7 ho. Any ideas?

I chased a whine for a long time and it ended up being my pinion bearing on the rear. This is common so im told on these trucks. Also since you will be under there and checking the rear I would check your front driveshaft right under your drivers door. The cv boot on the driveshaft where it meets with the t-case likes to bust and send grease everywhere drying it out.

Hope this helps,

Eli

I bought my Durango at 42K and the rear pinion whine has always been noticeable. As far as I can tell it hasn't gotten any louder in the 200,000 + miles I've put on it...
Last inspection (~50K ago) didn't show any abnormal wear patterns or residue.

If anyone has eliminated the whine altogether I'd be interested on hearing what you did...
